I have got been teaching Pre-School during the last 20 years. The question I often get asked by parents is, “http://www.children-learning-reading-review.com The idea is simple: Consistency, Repetition and Imitation. It doesn’t matter What you will be teaching your kids-it might be telling time, it could be tying a shoe; it may be riding a bike. It is important to keep in mind is that you simply must reinforce any concept on a regular basis.
In the morning I sit my students on a huge area rug and that we conduct a 10 minute circle time. My circle time includes: The Alphabet Song, Counting to 20, Months of the season, Days each week, Colors and Shapes. In addition, i add in, “What year is it?” and start with Two thousand and… A young child always yells out “14!” My next question is “What month could it be?” I start sounding out of the name of the month which can be displayed brightly on our calendar. It is currently September therefore i would start by sounding out the word. As a result daily my students can recite this for me plus they can recite this to their parents as well as someone else who may be willing to listen!
What does this mean?
To get consistent means you need to practice a concept every day.
Repetition means that if you wish to learn the Alphabet song, you then should sing the Alphabet song repeatedly every day.
Parents should model good reading habits even if it is by merely reading a newspaper or perhaps a magazine daily. Should you read daily, your kids may wish to read daily.
Children are learning from the minute they can be born and absorb whatever we make them learn. Introducing “reading” into a young child can be carried out by just reading every day. Make it the daily routine. It can be after school, or it might be before bed. Whatever you decide will end up an expected daily event.
